Black Drop Barista Named to Guild
-Whatcom Business Notebook
Teri Bryant of The Black Drop Coffeehouse in Bellingham was named the northwest regional representative of the Barista Guild of America.
The trade guild for the specialty coffee industry was created by coffee artisans in an effort to spread awareness, exchange ideas, and improve coffee and espresso worldwide. The northwest region of the BGA consists of Washington, Oregon and Alaska.
Baristas who are interested in the BGA should visit the Web site at www.baristaguildofamerica.org for more details. Local baristas are invited to visit The Black Drop to speak with Bryant about the guild. Bryant also wants to help organize a "Barista Jam" within the region later this year. A "Jam" is an informal meeting open to all baristas to fine-tune their technique.
The Black Drop is an independent espresso cafe located at 300 W. Champion St. in downtown Bellingham. For more information, contact Bryant at 738-3767.
